How to watch as No. 1 LSU baseball travels to face No. 6 South Carolina in big-time SEC series

The Tigers hit the road for another tough test in league play.

LSU opened conference play with three SEC series wins, but now, coach Jay Johnson’s team hits the road for what could be the toughest test so far.

The Tigers head for Columbia, South Carolina, for a three-game weekend series against the No. 6 Gamecocks, which begins on Thursday night. South Carolina is also 3 for 3 in terms of SEC series wins, and a Game 2 slip-up to Mississippi State last weekend was its only loss against league competition.

“South Carolina is a really physical team with big, strong hitters,” Johnson said in a release. “They lead the country in home runs. They have really good pitching, and they’re playing with a ton of confidence. We’re looking forward to playing there, it’s a beautiful ballpark, and it will be great to get these two historical programs together and compete when we are both at the top of college baseball.”

This will likely be the toughest test of the season so far for USC. Whoever wins this series will be well positioned to compete for an SEC regular-season title.

Here’s what you need to know to follow this weekend’s action in Columbia.

Update: Due to the threat of inclement weather, the teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday. Only Game 2 was played, and the teams will try to play the decisive Game 3 on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
