LSU is 1-1 after a blowout win over Southern.
The Tigers are now set to begin conference play in Week 3, with Mississippi State headed to town. In Week 2, the Bulldogs took a trip to Arizona and kicked off at 10 p.m. CT.
Mississippi State got the win, moving to 2-0 on the year. Its defense led the way, holding the Wildcats to 5.1 yards per pass and 1.8 yards per run. MSU forced three turnovers, but the Bulldog offense gave the ball away three times as well.
The first half was competitive, but Mississippi State outscored Arizona 21-7 in the second half, winning by a final score of 39-17. Mississippi State’s offense had a success rate of 55%, which is exceptional.
The Bulldogs will face a tougher test in Tiger Stadium next week.
