Former Texas Longhorns defensive tackle Ta’Quon Graham was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft. He was the third Longhorn taken off of the board.
New Falcons defensive coordinator Dean Pees likes to mix his defensive philosophies between using both 4-3 and 3-4 defensive fronts, which works out well for Graham. He has the versatility to play at both the 3-technique defensive tackle in four-man fronts, and a 5-technique defensive end in three-man fronts.
Graham is an excellent run defender, who has shown the ability to rush the passer as well. His best chances for getting on the field will come in rotation, primarily on obvious running situations in relief.
He might have to start off as the fifth or sixth man down Atlanta’s depth chart, but has upside for be full-time rotational player.
It would be great for his development to get playing times on special teams with both the punt and field goal defenses in order to get snaps as he develops and can increase his playing time down the line.
