How Al Horford has quietly been the Boston Celtics’ X-factor this season

As the Celtics gear up for the 2023 NBA Playoffs in the stretch run of their 2022-23 campaign, the Florida alum has looked almost a decade younger than his 36 years.

While it seems to be happening less than it once did, it is not unusual for casual fans of the Boston Celtics to underestimate Al Horford’s importance to the club after a casual glance to his midseason stat lines.

But Horford has long made a habit of preserving his body for the games that count, and this season so far has been no exception.

As the Celtics gear up for the 2023 NBA playoffs, the Florida alumnus has looked almost a decade younger than his 36 years of age the way he has been playing for Boston.

With the team needing stability in the frontcourt while big man Robert Williams III finds his footing, reserve forward Grant Williams heals a dinged elbow and the rest of the bigs do their best, Horford has become an X-factor.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast powered by FanDuel recently discussed the effect the veteran forward has had on Boston’s season.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say about Horford in 2022-23.
