Texas A&M (3-0) left no doubt on Sunday afternoon and run-ruled McNeese 10-0 hitting the showers early after the seventh inning. The offense looked as advertised the majority of the weekend, but they still have some kinks to work out. They stranded way too many runners on base and probably could have put game three out of reach much earlier. Coach Jim Schlossnagle was pleased with it and is still working out the lineup.
“I thought guys got off to a good start for the most part offensively a couple guys didn’t but they’ll be fine we got to play a fair amount of guys and that’s a challenge with this team is getting everybody at bats to keep a smile on their face”
The story of the weekend was the pitching. Everyone expected the Aggies to score in bunches, but the big questions were that of insurance runs and catch-up runs. Coach Sclossnagle and pitching coach Max Weiner were able to get 10 pitchers into action and on 88 at bats they only allowed 14 hits, recording 36 strikeouts, and a single run through three games.
It’s early and they will come across better teams as the season goes along. However, if this is any indication of where they might be headed then a Super Regional will just be the beginning. Below you can find some of the best moments from the series sweep of McNeese.
