The Carolina Panthers lead the division-rival Atlanta Falcons in their own stadium 20-7 at halftime.

Here’s how things have gone so far.

Offense

Teddy Bridgewater is throwing the ball extremely well, especially connecting with wide receivers Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel. He’s completed 20 of 27 throws, totaling 261 yards and two touchdowns. D.J. Moore also finally scored his first touchdown of the year on a long catch-and-run. Bridgewater is averaging 9.7 yards per attempt and has a 128.8 passer rating. The run game been relatively effective, as well. Mike Davis is averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

Defense

Atlanta’s offensive line has been bullying Carolina’s defensive line in the trenches. The Falcons are averaging nine yards per carry as a team and Todd Gurley scored an easy touchdown on Atlanta’s first drive of the game. The Panthers are doing a solid job of defending the pass, though. Matt Ryan has just 82 passing yards at the half and has been sacked twice.

Injuries could become a big problem, though. After forcing another fumble on Ryan, star defensive end Brian Burns took a shot to the helmet and had to leave the field with trainers for a possible concussion. Cornerback Donte Jackson is also out once again with his lingering toe problem.

Special teams

Joey Slye has hit both of his field goal attempts and Joseph Charlton continues to have a strong season after some shaky performances during training camp.

The Falcons will receive to begin the second half.
