When you have a nickname like “Sauce,” you’d better back it up on the field.
When the nickname is included in the name plate on your official bio on the school website, you know it’s for real.
That’s all you need to know about Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad Gardner, but we’ll tell you a bit more anyway. Listed at 6-3, 200 pounds, Gardner is a monster of a corner with rare size, length and athleticism, and a knack for frustrating opposing quarterbacks with his unwillingness to give up big plays.
In fact, Gardner has been targeted downfield 10 times so far this season, and has yet to give up a pass play of more than 15 yards (per Pro Football Focus):

NFL teams are always looking for shutdown corners with the kind of mentality and physical traits Gardner brings to the table, so don’t be surprised when he’s a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
