Three is the magic number.

For the third time this season, the Buffalo Bills have had a player signed off their practice squad by another team.

In that happening, the Bills (7-4) are now down to only three quarterbacks in their building as well: Josh Allen, Mitchell Trubisky and Davis Webb.

Per the NFL’s transaction wire on Tuesday, the New York Giants (4-7) signed quarterback Jake Fromm off Buffalo’s practice squad.

The reasoning was because Giants starter Daniel Jones suffered a neck injury in their Week 12 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. His status is unknown, and Fromm will provide insurance on their 53-man roster.

If Jones can’t play in their next game on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins (5-7), Mike Glennon would start.

Prior to Fromm’s signing, Jones and Glennon were the only two quarterbacks on their roster.

Brian Lewerke, who went undrafted at the 2020 NFL draft where Fromm was a fifth-round pick of the Bills, is also on the Giants’ practice squad.

Fromm has not appeared in a regular season game in the NFL, but he’s likely an upgrade from Lewerke.

While Fromm is the third player signed by another team off of Buffalo’s practice squad this season, he’s the first non-rookie.

The Eagles first signed seventh-round offensive lineman Jackson Anderson via the Bills’ PS. Following him was sixth-round cornerback Rachad Wildgoose, who is now on the New York Jets.
