Giants request to interview Dolphins LB coach Anthony Campanile for DC job

Miami LB coach gets his first external interview request to be a defensive coordinator.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has done a great job putting together and keeping a strong coaching staff in South Florida over the past couple of years, and those coaches are starting to get looked at for new opportunities.

Offensive coordinator Frank Smith has already been requested to interview for the Carolina Panthers head coach job, and now, linebackers coach Anthony Campanile has received a request to interview for the defensive coordinator position with the New York Giants, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Campanile, 41, originally joined the Dolphins staff back in 2020 under coach Brian Flores, but he stayed on after Flores’ firing to work under McDaniel. After Miami fired defensive coordinator Josh Boyer after last year, Campanile was interviewed for the position before it was ultimately given to Vic Fangio.

Campanile is from New Jersey, attended Rutgers and coached at two New Jersey high schools, including Don Bosco Prep, so it would be a natural fit with the Giants, who play in East Rutherford.
