Giants partner with RISE to inspire civic action, support voting efforts

The New York Giants and RISE have partnered to help inspire civic action and support voting efforts in 2020.

The New York Giants announced they are partnering with RISE, a national nonprofit organization “that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations.”

According to a release by the team on Saturday, “the Giants players and coaches will collaborate with RISE to educate, engage and empower all around civic engagement, voter education and voter registration leading up to Election Day on Nov. 3.”

“We’re proud to partner with the Giants, who have embraced their role as leaders and understand the power that sports has in bringing together communities and our country,” RISE CEO Diahann Billings-Burford said. “The Giants and their players have a tremendous platform and are devoted to using it to inspire civic engagement, which is critical to creating a unified nation committed to racial equity and social justice.”

Statistics reveal that four out of 10 registered voters did not vote in the 2016 presidential election (approximately 100 million people) and with the COVID-19 restrictions, there is a fear that number will grow.

The Giants will work with RISE to help the local community this fall and make sure every citizen can exercise their right to vote in this trying environment.
