The New York Giants returned to practice on Wednesday ahead of a Week 3 game against the San Francisco 49ers and it certainly felt different without the presence of running back Saquon Barkley (knee) and wide receiver Sterling Shepard (toe), both of whom are on injured reserve.
But, as they say, the show must go on.
“We’ve got good players on our roster. We have confidence in those players. Everybody has to come out and execute. We have to put them in the right positions as coaches to make sure they can make plays,” head coach Joe Judge told reporters.
Back on the field, newly signed running back Devonta Freeman, wearing No. 31, made his debut in practice, which appeared to feature the entirety of the team’s roster (excluding those on IR, of course).
Although the loss of both Barkley and Shepard will sting, the 49ers are overrun with injuries of their own, so having a completely healthy active roster may pay huge dividends for the 0-2 Giants.
