The New York Giants have returned from their bye and took the field for their first open practice of the week on Thursday.
Understandably, all eyes were on several of the team’s key players, including running back Saquon Barkley, left tackle Andrew Thomas and wide receiver Sterling Shepard.
Thomas was designated to return to practice and did take the field — an improvement over his status on Wednesday. However, he remains on injured reserve.
Shepard, meanwhile, worked on the side with trainers during the portion of practice open to the media. Barkley was more involved and continues to trend in the right direction. He looks like someone who will plat in Week 11.
Linebacker Lorenzo Carter was not in attendance for the second consecutive day. He continues to deal with an illness unrelated to COVID-19. Also missing were safety Nate Ebner (ankle) and tight end Kaden Smith (knee).
Did not participate: LB Lorenzo Carter (illness/ankle), DB Nate Ebner (knee), WR Sterling Shepard (quad), TE Kaden Smith (knee)
Limited participant: RB Saquon Barkley (ankle), RB Devontae Booker (hip), FB Cullen Gillaspia (calf)
Full participant: K Graham Gano (illness)
