New York Giants Ring of Honor member Jesse Armstead will be inducted into the Dallas ISD (Independent School District) Hall of Fame.
Armstead was on of seven former high school stars selected for the honor which will be given out on May 1 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.
Armstead was a star on the 1988 Carter team that went 14-0-1 on the field, beat the Odessa Permian team that inspired Friday Night Lights and defeated Converse Judson 31-14 in the Class 5A state championship game. But a disputed algebra grade for star running back/cornerback Gary Edwards sparked an investigation by the University Interscholastic League and Texas Education Agency that led to a lengthy legal battle and ultimately led to the UIL stripping the Cowboys of their state title in 1991.
Armstead played 11 seasons in the NFL, nine with the New York Giants and two with the Washington Redskins. He led the NFL with 21 tackles for loss in 1999.
Armstead was selected in the eighth round of the 1993 NFL Draft out of Miami and was a four-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler with the Giants.
Armstead has worked for the Giants as a special assistant since 2008 and is a staple on the sidelines during games.
