Giants climb out of NFC East basement

With their win over the Dolphins in Week 15, the New York Giants climbed out of the NFC East basement without losing draft positioning.

The New York Giants did something on Sunday that they had not done since Sunday, September 29 — they won.

The game started slow and the Giants actually trailed at the half, but they were able to rally, ultimately walking away with a 36-20 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

The victory meant little to the organization at this point, but it was nice to see Eli Manning potentially go out a winner.

Dallas Cowboys (7-7)

Jurrah’s team managed to get back to the .500 mark with a pretty sound beating of the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, which was their first win in four weeks and just their second win out of the last five. However, the victory doesn’t necessarily push them any closer to the playoffs as the NFC East crown remains up for grabs and a showdown with the Eagles looms.

Philadelphia Eagles (7-7)

After losing three straight, the streaky Eagles have now won two consecutive games, dropping the Giants last week and then hanging on to survive the Redskins this week. There are still glaring weaknesses all over the field and it’s hard to believe they can beat the Cowboys in a do-or-die matchup, but who knows. Dallas isn’t exactly a championship team, either.

New York Giants (3-11)

The Giants snapped a nine-game losing streak, avoiding a franchise record in futility by defeating the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The win did nothing to help the team, but it also did nothing to hurt the team. The real benefactors were the fans and veteran quarterback Eli Manning, who is now poised to enter the next phase of his career as a winner.

Washington Redskins (3-11)

Despite a breakout day for quarterback Dwayne Haskins, the Redskins could not hang on to defeat the Eagles. As a result of their loss, they fall back into the basement of the NFC East without leap-frogging the Giants for the projected No. 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft due to strength of schedule. That could change next week when Washington and New York square off.
