Giants climb 9 spots in latest USA TODAY power rankings

The New York Giants rose an impressive nine spots in the USA TODAY power rankings following a Week 1 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

The decision to go for two points and a victory against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday has altered the way those around the NFL view the New York Giants.

For the first time since 2016, there is a growing belief that the organization finally has the correct regime in place. And while no one is fooled into believing they will become instant playoff contenders, the Giants are being taken more seriously.

That was evident in the latest power rankings from USA TODAY’s Nate Davis. In them, the Giants rise an impressive nine spots from No. 29 to No. 20 overall.

20. Giants (29): Off to a 1-0 start, New York stands to benefit significantly from Dallas’ troubles … as well as RB Saquon Barkley’s reemergence.

Comparatively, the Dallas Cowboys plummeted to No. 28 overall from No. 15 the previous week. The Washington Commanders rose seven spots to No. 19 overall and the Philadelphia Eagles climbed all the way up to No. 6 overall.

The New York Jets dropped to the bottom and now reside at No. 32 overall, while the Buffalo Bills have overtaken the Los Angeles Rams at No. 1 overall.
