Giants’ Brian Daboll shuts down QB talk: Daniel Jones is the starter

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is tired of the “quarterback controversy” talk, firmly stating that Daniel Jones is the starter.

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll had previously shut down any notion of a quarterback controversy, making it clear that Daniel Jones would be the team’s starter once he returned to health.

That wasn’t enough for many, including fans in the stands and reporters at large. The “quarterback controversy” narrative continued to spread despite Daboll’s firm statement.

On Wednesday, Daboll doubled down with an emphasis, eliminating any notion that Tyrod Taylor might start over Jones upon the latter’s return.

“Yep,” Daboll said when asked if Jones is the starter.

Pressed further on why Taylor wouldn’t get the nod, Daboll became even more firm.

“I’m not getting into that,” an annoyed Daboll said. “I mean, (Jones) is our starter. I don’t know how many times I’ve been asked, but I’ve said it a bunch.”

Taylor has played admirably in Jones’ absence but he was never going to steal the starting job from the injured DJ.

Daboll has made that abundantly clear but it would be a safe bet to assume the speculation doesn’t suddenly cease now.
