Giants’ Azeez Ojulari passes physical, activated from NFI

New York Giants edge rusher Azeez Ojulari (hamstring) returned to practice on Sunday for the first time since training camp started.

New York Giants outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari is set to make his training camp debut this week.

Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Ojulari will return to the practice field on Sunday. He had been sidelined since the start of camp with a hamstring issue.

Ojulari, a second-round pick out of Georgia last year, burst on the scene by recording a Giants rookie franchise record for sacks with 8.0. He played all 17 games last season with eight starts.

He is expected to form a ‘bookend’ pass rush with rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux this year and this week, Giant fans and interested parties will get their first glimpse into what that will look like.

Ojulari showed up at Giants’ minicamp this spring with 10 pounds of added muscle, incasing his weight from 245 pounds to 255.

“I just felt like trying to improve my game, my weight to just hold up,” he said. “I just feel good. Just wanted to get bigger.”
