Georgia WR AD Mitchell enters the transfer portal; Texas expected to pursue

AD Mitchell and Texas could be a match made in heaven.

Georgia wide receiver AD Mitchell has entered the transfer portal right before the January deadline.

Steve Sarkisian and Texas’ staff have kept a patient approach with the transfer portal opting for quality over quantity compared to the recent season. With the wide receiver position being a glaring need for Texas entering the offseason, Mitchell could very well be the perfect fit.

Mitchell played a crucial role in Georgia’s back-to-back national championships, catching a touchdown pass in all four of UGA’s College Football Playoff games.

The 6-foot-3 Texas native brings a dynamic downfield pass-catching ability. He proved on many occasions he is capable is winning one-on-one battles against some of the nation’s better defensive backs. Mitchell’s championship experience would be a welcomed addition to Texas’ wide receiver unit.

Quinn Ewers will need all the weapons he can get into next season. The presence of an outside target like Mitchell forces defenses to worry about another deep threat at wide receiver other than Xavier Worthy.

Mitchell will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at whatever school he ends up at.
