The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to class of 2024 edge rusher Booker Pickett Jr., who is ranked as a four-star recruit. Pickett Jr. plays high school football for Wharton High School in Tampa, Florida.
The sophomore defensive end is the No. 87 player in the class of 2024 and the No. 6 edge rusher. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Wharton star is still adding to his frame.
Booker Pickett Jr. was named third-team all-state in Florida’s highly competitive 7A division. Ole Miss, FSU, Rutgers, Tennessee, USC, and more have already extended scholarship offers to the four-star prospect.
Kirby Smart and Georgia have the second-ranked class of 2023, but currently have no commitments in the class of 2024. Georgia is always looking for great pass rushers.
The Wharton defensive end constantly works his way into the opposing backfield. Pickett Jr. has a great speed rush and a nifty spin move. The four-star is lightning quick of the snap and is a quarterback-sacking machine.
Pickett Jr. is still developing as a run defender and will need to add to his frame in order to compete in the SEC. Fortunately, Pickett Jr. has a few years to gain weight and strength. He still often beats offensive tackles at the point of attack on rushing plays.
Pickett Jr. has some impressive sophomore highlights via Twitter. He records an incredible number of sacks in this five minute clip:
