The 4th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1 SEC) meet the top-ranked Texas Longhorns (6-0, 2-0) Saturday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. Kickoff in the SEC game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Georgia vs. Texas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Dawgs head down to Austin trying to avoid a 2nd regular-season loss. Georgia hasn’t lost 2 games in a regular season since the COVID campaign of 2020, when Georgia lost 41-24 at Alabama, and 44-28 against Florida in Jacksonville at a neutral site.

The Longhorns racked up a 34-3 win over the rival Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game in Dallas last weekend. Texas has scored 31 or more points in every game this season, going 5-1 against the spread (ATS), while cashing the Under in each of the past 2 outings.

Georgia has failed to cover the past 5 games since thrashing Clemson 34-3 in the season opener on Aug. 31. The Over and Under have alternated in each of the past 4 outings.

Texas leads the all-time series 4-1, last meeting in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 2019. The Longhorns won that meeting 28-21. Georgia’s only win in the series came in the previous battle at the Cotton Bowl Jan. 2, 1984, a 10-9 victory. The teams haven’t met in the regular season since 1958, Georgia’s only trip previous trip to Austin. The ‘Horns won 13-8 that day.

Georgia at Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 30, Georgia 23

Moneyline

Texas (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return, and that’s a just a little too expensive for a standalone bet. If you were to toss the Longhorns into a multi-leg parlay, that isn’t priced out of line.

Georgia (+165) has the experience of these big games, but something has been off for the Dawgs on the road. They barely escaped 13-12 at Kentucky on Sept. 14, and they fell 41-34 at Alabama Sept. 28. UGA was getting blown out, but did make a game of it, though.

PASS.

Against the spread

TEXAS -4.5 (-115) is a decent play at the DKR in this marquee battle. This game should have a little bit of everything, but the Longhorns should get the job done in the end.

Everyone talks about the Texas offense, and rightly so, as QBs Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning have each been strong when called upon. The team goes for 495.7 total yards per game, while piling up 306.7 yards per game through the air. But, it’s the defense which has been rock-solid, allowing just 6.3 points and 229.7 total yards per game, and both marks are No. 1 in the nation.

This might be a passing of the torch game, as Texas ascends to the throne in its 1st season in the SEC.

Over/Under

UNDER 57.5 (-110) is worth a look based on the defense for Texas, although Georgia will certainly be able to move the ball.

The Georgia offense, led by QB Carson Beck, has managed 318.0 yards per game through the air. Texas hasn’t seen anything like it to date. And the UGA defense can hold its own, allowing 312.5 total yards, 120.2 rushing yards and 17.2 PPG.
