Wisconsin at times has been susceptible to allowing easy points in the paint through the first 10 games. Against UW-Milwaukee, the Badgers gave up 14 points down low the fewest since allowing 10 points to Marquette.
Between the play of Reuvers and Potter, they made sure UW-Milwaukee couldn’t get comfortable down low. Considering between Reuvers (three blocks) and Potter (1 block) the two combined for all four of Wisconsin’s blocks.
In addition, with Wisconsin taking the paint away it also meant that the Panthers couldn’t generate many second chances for themselves as they finished the game with six offensive rebounds. UW-Milwaukee was able to turn their second chances into five points as Potter played an important role in limiting the Panthers second chances. Potter finished with a team leading five defensive rebounds as Trice, Brad Davison, and Aleem Ford all finished with four defensive rebounds. Wisconsin was able to win the rebounding battle 36-to-27.
Although Wisconsin was able to limit UW-Milwaukee’s second chances they did have trouble slowing down Darius Roy as he lead the Panthers with 25 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field. Roy was able to hurt Wisconsin’s defense either by attacking the hoop or by going 3-for-5 from three.
Te’John Lucas was the only other Panther to reach double figures with 10 points on 4-for-10 shooting from the field. Overall, UW-Milwaukee finished the game shooting 22-for-52 (42.3 percent) from the field.
