Four-star EDGE Braylan Shelby announces top two schools

Texas is one of the final two schools for the 6-foot-5 pass rusher.

Texas continues to make positives strides on the recruiting trail for the 2023 cycle.

Four-star edge Braylan Shelby announced the final two schools left in his recruitment on Wednesday. Texas and USC will battle it out for the Friendswood native.

Shelby is rated the No. 29 edge in the country for the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 37 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

As a junior in 2021, the 6-foot-5 pass rusher recorded 77 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, eight sacks and four forced fumbles.

Texas desperately needs to improve their pass rush and landing a player of Shelby’s caliber would put defensive line coach Bo Davis on the right track.

It’s unclear when Shelby will announce his commitment, but it appears Texas has the slight edge in his recruitment at this time.
