Texas received unfortunate news on Thursday from a member of their 2024 recruiting class that has already gotten off to a slow start.
Four-star wide athlete/wide receiver Hunter Moddon announced that he will be backing off of his pledge to the Longhorns. Moddon committed to the Longhorns on Sept. 2, choosing Texas over programs such as LSU, TCU, Ole Miss, and Georgia.
Moddon is ranked the No. 6 athlete and the No. 92 overall player in the country, according to 247Sports composite. After losing Moddon, Texas has just five members in their 2024 class which now ranks as the No. 54 class in the country. Moddon marks the third member of the class of 2024 to decommit from Texas.
On the bright side for Texas fans, they’re still heavily in the mix for other potential wide receivers in Ryan Wingo and Dakorien Moore.
