Former UNC WR Josh Downs already establishing connection with Anthony Richardson

Former UNC football standout Josh Downs is showing off his work ethic early with the Indianapolis Colts.

Former North Carolina Tar Heels wide receiver Josh Downs wasted no time showing the Indianapolis Colts his work ethic.

As the Colts begin rookie minicamp this weekend, the receiver met the media on Friday and revealed an interesting note. Downs stated that he couldn’t wait to work with new quarterback Anthony Richardson and went outside of the hotel they are staying at to catch passes from him on Thursday night.

Colts reporter Stephen Holder tweeted the news as Friday was a media session for the team, showing just how much having a good work ethic means to Downs early in his NFL career.

UNC fans saw just how hard Downs worked as he spent three years with the program. Over time, Downs busted his butt and waited his turn, developing into one of the best receivers the Tar Heels have ever had.

He posted back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in 2021 and 2022, working with Sam Howell and Drake Maye. He also came close to having back-to-back 100-receiving yard seasons as well and would have hit that mark if not for an injury in 2022.

The hope for the Colts is that Downs and Richardson turn into a dynamic duo for the franchise. And right now, it sounds like they have the right mindset.
