Former Texas running back signs with the Miami Dolphins

Former Texas Longhorn running back Malcolm Brown signs with the Dolphins.

Former Texas running back Malcolm Brown is the latest signee of the 2021 NFL free agency frenzy. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport announced on Tuesday that Brown will sign with the Miami Dolphins.

Brown attended the University of Texas from 2011-2014, where he rushed for 2,678 yards and 24 touchdowns in four seasons. He was a key factor in helping the Longhorns to a 31-21 record.

He went undrafted in 2015 before signing with the Rams as a practice squad player and eventually earned a spot on their 53-man roster. Brown spent his entire career up to this point with the Rams, used mostly as a rotational and short-yardage back. He rushed for 1,188 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding on 43 receptions for 327 yards and a touchdown.

Now, Brown has a chance to help the new-look Miami Dolphins regime to take the next step in what has been an impressive turnaround of their franchise.

Brown will likely still fill the same role in Miami that he did with the Rams, but the former Longhorn will have a fresh start.
