Former Texas cornerback Kenyatta Watson II entered the transfer portal one week ago.
It didn’t take long for the redshirt freshman to find a new home. Watson announced Monday that he will continue his playing career at Georgia Tech.
It’s not surprising considering Watson grew up in the state of Georgia. He was clearly frustrated by the lack of playing time at Texas after a tense position battle this offseason.
Josh Thompson and D’Shawn Jamison ultimately won the starting roles at cornerback, but Jalen Green has been heavily involved in the rotation as well. Although Watson had three tackles in the dominating win over UTEP, he did not play against Texas Tech and TCU.

Watson was one of Texas’ most explosive athletes and often wowed the coaching staff with impressive athletic testing results, including a vertical jump measured at 45 inches.
He played in four games last season with six tackles and one pass breakup before redshirting. He held a four-star rating and was the No. 12 overall prospect from Georgia out of the 2019 recruiting class.
