The New York Giants signed a former member of the New England Patriots roster on Friday. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Giants and running back James Robinson have agreed to a deal.
Robinson signed a two-year deal with the Patriots back in March. He was released by the organization on June 12, after initially being thought of as a potential depth piece for New England. He had 110 carries for 425 yards and three rushing touchdowns in total when playing with both the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets last season.
Injuries have obviously taken a toll on him since he burst onto the scene with 1,070 rushing yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie. Things didn’t work out with the Jets or New England. So he’ll try again with another clean slate playing for the Giants.
Giants now have signed free-agent RB James Robinson and free-agent WR Cole Beasley, who reunites with HC Brian Daboll.

The Patriots have hosted a pair of veteran running backs for workouts, including Leonard Fournette and Darrell Henderson. They also hope to get additional contributions from Kevin Harris, Pierre Strong Jr. and Ty Montgomery.
