You might have heard, the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants have many connections now.
Not only did the Giants hire Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to be their head coach, former Buffalo assistant GM Joe Schoen is now New York’s general manager.
Could those links mean something like trades are on the horizon? A recent roundtable on ESPN’s morning program “Get Up” made the case for that and it involved a huge name: Running back Saquon Barkley.
Barkley, recently 25, was the Giants’ second-overall pick in 2018. Rushers are rarely drafted that high, but Barkley was viewed as almost a generational talent at his position.
In the pros, he’s been a bit inconsistent and had some injury issues. The up-and-down play has had a lot to do with his team. The Giants haven’t helped him much.
In the final year of his contract now, could Schoen look to make a statement and ship out Barkley? If so, former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum made the case that the Bills should be in contact.
“They’re sort of in the ‘one player away mode,’ so Buffalo, for me, comes to the top of the list,” Tannenbaum said.
