Former LSU RHP Aidan Moffett heading to Texas

A former LSU baseball pitcher is joining new Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle in Austin.

On Saturday night, sophomore right-handed pitcher [autotag]Aidan Moffett[/autotag] announced that he was transferring to the Longhorns after spending his first two seasons in Baton Rouge. Moffett entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of the season.

A former top 200 national prospect coming out of high school, expectations were high for Moffett. He threw just 19 pitches — all in one game — as a true freshman in 2023, but he saw action in 16 games as a sophomore this spring.

Moffett still only pitched 17.2 innings, however, finishing with a 5.60 ERA as he gave up 11 earned runs while striking out 21 batters and walking 11.

His final appearance with the Tigers came in the regional winners’ bracket loss to North Carolina, in which Moffett faced just one batter, recording a strikeout.

LSU could see Moffett again as he’s staying in the SEC while looking for a fresh start with Texas.
