Georgetown announced Tasha Butts as its women’s basketball head coach on Tuesday.
Butts played at Tennessee from 2000-04. She was selected in the second-round of the 2004 WNBA draft by Minnesota.
“I am absolutely honored to be the head coach for Georgetown women’s basketball,” Butts said in a press release. “I would like to thank President DeGioia, Athletics Director Lee Reed, Sharon Brummell and the entire committee for choosing me. It has always been a dream of mine and to be awarded this opportunity to coach at such a prestigious institution, it is beyond any words.
“I’m elated that I will have the opportunity to mentor, develop and coach these young women. I look forward to working with the entire Georgetown administration, staff and, most importantly, getting involved in our community. I am super excited about this new journey, it’s going to be an amazing ride and we will do this together! Go Hoyas!”
