Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard commits to Ohio State

Will Howard played for Kansas State for four years and threw 48 touchdowns in his time with the Wildcats, adding 19 more on the ground.

Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard committed to play for Ohio State next season, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Thursday.

“When I started talking to Ohio State, everything kind of lined up,” Howard said in Thamel’s report.

He added that he had wanted to go to a place with the surrounding talent to compete for a national title.

The 6-foot-5 senior played for four years with the Wildcats. throwing 168 passes as a freshman in 2020. He ended his Kansas State career with 5,786 passing yards, 48 passing touchdowns, and 25 interceptions as well as a 58.8% completion percentage. He was one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country, with 921 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground.

Howard’s most efficient season came in 2022, when he led Kansas State to a Big 12 conference championship. He played in seven games, throwing for 1,423 yards, 15 touchdowns, and just four interceptions.

His 8.2 yards per attempt in 2022 remains the highest total of his career, but he set all of his volume marks in 2023. He threw for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing a personal-best 61.3% of his passes, although he did throw 10 interceptions. He also ran for nine touchdowns, his most in a single season.
