Former Georgia Bulldog running back James Cook is primed to have a big season in 2023. Cook is entering his second season with the Buffalo Bills and has a major opportunity to be the lead back.
The Buffalo Bills received bad news on July 24. Buffalo running back Nyheim Hines suffered a season ending injury in an unfortunate accident.
The Bills parted ways with veteran Devin Singletary this offseason. Singletary, who signed with the Houston Texans, received 177 carries for 819 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns last season with Buffalo.
Someone has to take Singletary’s share of carries, and Cook is unquestionably Buffalo’s best receiving back following Hines’ injury. As a rookie, Cook accumulated 507 rushing yards on 89 carries, which is a great average of 5.7 yards per carry. Cook also finished the year with three touchdowns.
Cook’s other top competition for carries will be veteran running backs Damien Harris and Latavius Murray. Following Nyheim Hines’ injury, the Bills may look to sign another running back.
James Cook’s brother, Dalvin Cook, remains a free agent. Could the Cook brothers be reunited in Buffalo?
While sitting stationary on a jet ski, Nyheim Hines was struck by another rider and sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Hines will require surgery and will miss the 2023 season. https://t.co/hR1VVD7BmW
