Former Washington Commanders offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer has a new home. Schweitzer signed with the New York Jets on Thursday.
Schweitzer, who has spent the past three seasons in Washington, has experience at center at guard, playing all three interior positions during his time in Washington.
New York’s Twitter account essentially broke the news.

Schweitzer was a sixth-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. He spent four seasons in Atlanta before signing a three-year contract with Washington in 2020. Schweitzer played both guard spots during his first season with Washington. He first filled in at right guard for Brandon Scherff for three games and played well. He then replaced the ineffective Wes Martin at left guard for the remainder of the season.
In 2021, Washington signed Ereck Flowers to play left guard, making Schweitzer the top interior reserve. Schweitzer played in 11 games, making five starts. He started four games at right guard in place of Scherff. He started one game at center before an injury ended his season.
Schweitzer battled injuries in 2022, appearing in only seven games with six starts.
For his NFL career, Schweitzer has played in 80 games, making 60 starts.
