Former Alabama LB Christian Harris drafted by Houston Texans in the third round

Christian Harris will be joining the Houston Texans!

Former Crimson Tide linebacker [autotag]Christian Harris[/autotag] has been drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft with pick No. 75 overall.

Harris will join former Alabama teammate wide receiver John Metchie, who was also selected by Houston in this draft.

A former four-star recruit out of University Lab High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the 6-2, 232-pound Harris was the sixth-ranked inside linebacker and the fifth overall ranked Louisiana prospect during the 2019 cycle.

He was a wide receiver and safety in high school before transitioning to the linebacker position during his freshman year at Alabama.

He had 80 tackles, 51 stops, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, 26 pressures, three passes defended, and two forced fumbles in 2021. He ends his collegiate career with 220 tackles, 120 stops, 26 tackles for a loss, ten sacks, 66 pressures, an interception, nine passes defended, and two forced fumbles.

Prior to draft day, the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Bears showed considerable interest in Harris by spending one of their 30 pre-draft visits with the Junior linebacker.

Harris started as a true freshman in Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide defense, which is a rare occurrence for players under the tutelage of the greatest college football coach of all time.
