Former Alabama cornerback Levi Wallace had a very inspiring story as he walked on to the Crimson Tide football team. While he made a significant splash in his senior season, he went undrafted in 2018, but still found his way onto the Buffalo Bills roster. Eventually, Wallace earned a regular spot in the Bills’ defensive rotation.
In the 2019 NFL season, Wallace start all 16 games for Buffalo where he had two interceptions, nine pass deflections and 76 total tackles.
Buffalo did sign veteran cornerbacks E.J. Gaines and Josh Norman. These additions will likely result in Wallace having to fight for his spot in the secondary.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon created a list of all 32 teams’ biggest sleepers as training camp approaches.
For the Bills, Gagnon names Wallace as the sleeper.
He references the addition of Norman and Gaines, which will make it difficult for Wallace to reclaim his starting role. However, Gagnon’s mention of his stats should offer some help in the inevitable fight Wallace has ahead of him.
“Norman is obviously much more accomplished than Wallace, but watch for the undrafted 25-year-old to wrestle back his outside starting gig from the 2015 All-Pro,” writes Gagnon. “He has just two career interceptions, but in his first full season as a starter, he surrendered just 6.5 yards per target and a passer rating of 85.5. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Norman gave up 9.7 yards per target and a 129.0 passer rating with Washington last year.”
