When five-star edge rusher [autotag]Keon Keeley[/autotag] decommitted from Notre Dame, he immediately jumped to the top of Florida’s recruiting wishlist. Okay, [autotag]Cormani McClain[/autotag] might still be priority No. 1, but Keeley is UF’s next best shot at landing a five-star in the class of 2023.
On Friday, the Gators received some good news from the Keeley camp. According to On3 National Recruiting Director Chad Simmons, Keeley is “definitely” taking an official visit to Florida over the fall. He also locked in an official visit for the Ohio State-Notre Dame game in Columbus next week.
Alabama should also get an official visit with him. The Crimson Tide hosted Keeley three times while he was committed to Notre Dame and are the favorites to land him.
While there’s no date set for Keeley’s Florida trip, he’s communicating with the team regularly and planning things out. Simmons said that some sources are considering the Gators as a “close second” to ‘Bama, so a memorable official visit could make the difference.
The On3 consensus ranks Keeley No. 11 overall in the class of 2023 and No. 1 among edge rusher. On3’s individual rankings have him even higher at No. 3 overall. The 247Sports composite and Top247 both consider him a top-10 recruit as well.
