Florida set to host DL target committed to Auburn

The Florida Gators are getting Auburn defensive line commit Malik Autry on campus for a third time this year and are pushing hard for a flip.

August 1 marked the first day that coaches could contact recruits from the class of 2025, and Florida’s staff wasted no time connecting with [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag], a defensive line target out of Alabama that’s committed to Auburn.

Since the first of the month, Autry has kept in close contact with the program and says that “Florida is pushing the hardest,” to flip him, according to a report from Gators Online.

“Everything has been good with Florida since Aug. 1,” Autry said. “I still communicate with coach Napier, coach Spencer and coach James… I send them my film from practice and let them tell me what to do better. They are some great coaches.”

Autry isn’t short on elite Power Five offers. In addition to the Auburn offer that he verbally accepted, Georgia, LSU and Michigan are among the other teams that extended scholarships to him. Yet, it’s Florida that is sticking out the most.

Sean Spencer’s “down-to-earth” approach might be the main reason for that. Florida’s defensive line coach has made a strong impression on the family.

“He’s just real,” he said. “He not only talks about going to the NFL but also college because everyone knows making the NFL is super hard. He’s super real and super honest. He’s a good guy. My parents could drop me off and they trust him, so he’s a great person.”
