Florida planning to host this Michigan commit on official visit

Raylen Wilson might be committed to Michigan right now, but he sure seems interested in the University of Florida.

They say where there’s smoke there’s fire, and there certainly seems to be enough smoke surrounding four-star Michigan linebacker commit [autotag]Raylen Wilson[/autotag]. Florida and Georgia have stayed persistent enough over the spring that they have each earned official visits over the summer, according to 247Sports.

Wilson will be in Athens on June 3, Ann Arbor on June 10 and Gainesville on June 17. Florida getting the final visit of the three bodes well for the Gators’ chances of flipping the Lincoln High (Tallahassee, Florida) recruit, especially since he’s said in the past that UF would receive consideration if he were to ever de-commit from Michigan.

Gators coaches have kept in contact with him and been out to see him in action during spring practices. Inside linebackers coach Jay Bateman saw him on Monday and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke saw him a few weeks ago.

The new staff is definitely making the difference for Wilson at Florida, but there’s still plenty of work to be done on the official visit to convince him that orange is a better pairing with blue than maize. His comments were positive following his spring visit, but one would expect the red carpet to be rolled out in June.

“I would say it was better than the last time I was there,” Wilson said following his most recent visit to the Swamp. “It’s just the people and the vibe the people I was around give off… We went to a whole bunch of academic buildings and toured there. We toured the football facilities, and then I got a photoshoot, ate, sat in the linebacker meetings, and then watched practice.”

Wilson is ranked No. 71 overall in the class of 2023, according to the 247Sports composite, and is No. 7 among linebackers.
