Florida football ‘number one right now’ for this blue-chip wide receiver

Florida football gets out in front for the recruitment of this Louisiana pass-catcher.

Florida football extended a scholarship offer to four-star wide receiver Michael Turner out of New Orleans (Louisiana) John Curtis on Tuesday and got a superlatively positive reaction from the young prep prospect. Upon receiving the offer, the 6-foot-1-inch, 175-pound pass-catcher was ecstatic about the possibility of wearing the Orange and Blue.

“I am not going to lie, UF is number one right now,” he told Swamp247’s Blake Alderman. “It’s just a major school. I never thought a school like this would come recruit me, so I was like, ‘woah’. I had to make them number one.”

Carter’s recruitment was led by the tandem effort from running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales. The two were able to connect on a personal level with the bayou boy.

“Coach Juluke was real cool dude. He’s from New Orleans, and was telling me how he recruits that area and how he went to Karr and how Karr is coming out with this movie and how he got to watch it. Coach Gonzales was asking me more questions about me. Asking me how my grades are, about my mom and my dad, if I had some brothers and sisters, when I was thinking about committing to a college. I like people who ask me things about my family, how I am doing, and about me. It makes me feel like they care about me. Not like they want me to just come play football, but actually care about me.”

The high school junior, who currently holds 17 offers, has a visit planned for the coming weekend with the LSU Tigers followed by a trip out to see the Nebraska Cornhuskers the next weekend. He has yet to set a Florida visit date, but presumably, one will be set for the summer soon.

Turner is rated at four stars and ranked No. 22 overall at the athlete position and No. 7 overall in his state according to 247Sports while the On3 industry rates him at three stars and has him ranked at No. 83 among wide receivers nationally and No. 13 overall in his state.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Ole Miss Rebels a 50% chance of landing him, followed by the Tulane Green Wave, Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at 4.0%, 3.4% and 2.8%, respectively.
