Five-star cornerback Tony Mitchell mentions Texas among top schools

On Saturday, the nation’s top cornerback in the 2023 recruiting class listed Texas among his top schools.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff are riding a wave of momentum on the recruiting trail.

Fortunately for Texas, it doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. On Saturday, five-star cornerback Tony Mitchell released the top 12 schools left in his recruitment.

Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Oregon, Clemson, Georgia, USC, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan and Texas are still in the running to land one of the top prospects in the 2023 class.

Mitchell is the No. 1 player at his position in the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 3 overall player from the state of Alabama according to 247Sports. As a top-20 player in the nation, Mitchell has received over 20 offers at this point.

Sarkisian’s staff extended an offer to Mitchell on Feb. 12. The 6-2, 180-pound playmaker helped Thompson High School win their second consecutive Alabama 7A state title. He recorded 82 tackles, eight tackles for loss, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, four interceptions (two returned for touchdowns).
