Five things we learned about Rutgers football from the spring game

Rutgers football closed out their spring schedule with the annual spring game.

Rutgers football capped off their annual spring game on Friday night with the split-squad scrimmage resulting in a 16-14 win by the Scarlet over the White team.

It was a solid showing between a rather evenly split squad. The offense, despite some struggles, did show some glimmers of hope that the unit as a whole can take a step forward this season.

At halftime, it was Scarlet 7-White 7.

White took a 14-7 lead when quarterback Noah Vedral ran seven yards for a touchdown, capping off a four-play, 63-yard drive early in the third quarter. Vedral struggled in the first half but bounced back

The good news is that there were no major injuries to emerge from the game and there was a clear improvement in the talent and overall depth of the program.

The winning touchdown was scored with two seconds left by Gavin Kane, the son of Rutgers baseball legend Todd Frazier.
