The New Orleans Pelicans publicly signaled that they could be entering a new phase as a franchise. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the team was fielding trade offers for veteran guard Jrue Holiday. Though Holiday has not asked for a trade himself, the team likely sees this off-season as one of the last times to get maximum value for him in a trade given his age and contract status.
Still, the team should and likely will ask for a lot in return for Holiday. Contenders are lining up to make offers for Holiday, which should help create a bidding war.
Any number of contenders could line up for his services. As one of the best defensive guards in the league, he’ll fit into any side on that end alone. For many sides, he could be viewed as the final piece to put them over the top as contenders.
That makes trade possibilities for him endless with every potential contender seeing him as a valuable piece. Here is a look at five trades with contenders the Pelicans could make.
