Five commits, 3 targets from 2021 recruiting class reportedly visiting Oklahoma’s campus

This weekend is taking shape for Oklahoma in a major way on the recruiting trail. More than a handful of recruits are visiting on their own.

This weekend is taking shape for Oklahoma in a major way on the recruiting trail.

The NCAA has mandated a mandatory dead period that has been extended through Sept. 30. This means no visits, officially or unofficially, can take place for any recruits. Every football program has put together virtual visits for recruits to go through, but none are seeing the campus in person.

That hasn’t stopped others from still visiting the campus themselves.

Recruits can visit campuses without seeing or being toured around by any coaches. Oklahoma is having some major talent visiting this weekend.

The ‘Sooner Summit’ has been put together by five-star and No. 1 overall quarterback Caleb Williams. Joining him are commitments Danny Stutsman, Ethan Downs, Clayton Smith and Cullen Montgomery according to director of 247Sports recruiting Steve Wiltfong.

Some major targets, including a five-star or two could be joining.

“Some of the key targets expected include five-star offensive tackle Tristan Leigh, Top247 receiver Jalil Farooq, Top247 offensive tackle Savion Byrd, potentially five-star running back Camar Wheaton and maybe another coveted offensive lineman in Bryce Foster,” Wiltfong said. “It’s not out of the question that Oklahoma ultimately lands every prospect listed there.”

Leigh and Foster are two of the best offensive linemen in the country, Wheaton is a five-star running back and Farooq is a four-star wide receiver according to Rivals.

Oklahoma currently has 13 commitments for the 2021 recruiting class and the class is ranked 16th in the country.
