Five biggest concerns heading into the Alamo Bowl

The Valero Alamo Bowl is just days away, Longhorns wire breaks down the five biggest concerns for Texas ahead of its final game of 2020.

What is the defensive line rotation going to look like

This might be the biggest question, who will be the ‘Jack’ when the defense takes the field. It was Joseph Ossai all year, but with his opt out, where do the Longhorns turn. Reese Leitao was a name to consider earlier this season, but he has dealt with injuries. Jett Bush isn’t the guy that should see consistent snaps. Jacoby Jones just might be the guy to play that role. Next year, Ja’Tavion Sanders and Marqez Bimage could be in a position battle for Jack.

Chris Ash’s defense also has to figure out what to do at defensive tackle. Keondre Coburn will handle his role as he usually does, but who replaces Ta’Quon Graham next to him? T’Vondre Sweat will likely be the starter inside, but we could see a lot more of freshman Alfred Collins. Both are huge forces inside on the defensive line.

Collins might be the best bet to make an impact on the defensive line. Early in the season, we saw flashes of what Collins could become. He is a mountain of a man and hard to deal with inside. Collins might have the inside track for the starter in 2021.
