Five biggest concerns heading into the Alamo Bowl

The Valero Alamo Bowl is just days away, Longhorns wire breaks down the five biggest concerns for Texas ahead of its final game of 2020.

How will the starting offensive line look

The Longhorns will not have Samuel Cosmi or Derek Kerstetter on the field on Tuesday. So there will be a different left tackle and center combination for this game. We saw a glimpse of this against the Kansas State Wildcats. The question is, will the Longhorns go with that same look against Colorado?

The starting left tackle should be freshman Andrej Karic. Against Kansas State, he very much looked the part of the next starting tackle in place of Cosmi. He played 26 snaps against the Wildcats front four and didn’t allow a single pressure. He is athletic enough to get out in space and pave the way for the running backs. Left guard will be Junior Angilau and right guard should be Denzel Okafor.

At right tackle, expect Christian Jones but if he continues to struggle, don’t be surprised if freshman Jaylen Garth sees some action. The freshman offensive tackle recently was cleared to return to practice after a knee injury robbed him of most of the season. Jake Majors filled in nicely for Kerstetter at center against Kansas State, he should remain the starter there.
