With free agency ramping up on Monday it was announced early in the day that former Seattle and Denver quarterback Russell Wilson will be signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year veteran minimum contract, with the Denver Broncos set to pay their former signal caller his guaranteed $38 million on the year.

This move was somewhat speculated in NFL circles with the Pittsburgh Steelers clearly looking to bring in other options than former first-round pick Kenny Pickett. Wilson is expected to compete with Pickett for the starting gig in the 2024 season and if he wins out he should be an upgrade on a roster that was highly competitive last season despite poor play at the quarterback position.
With Wilson now finding his new home, quarterbacks Kirk Cousins and Justin Fields become the most immediate options for quarterback-needy teams for the remainder of the free agency period before the 2024 NFL Draft.
