This past fall, Sean Ashenfelder provided a verbal commitment to Rutgers football. The Florida quarterback is part of the 2025 class and was a big early get for the Scarlet Knights.
Ashenfelder put together an outstanding junior season for Creekside High School in St. John’s, Florida, recording 136 completions on 273 attempts (49.8 percent) for 1,762 yards with 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Also, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound quarterback added 582 yards on the ground with 130 carries and 13 touchdowns. According to Max Preps, Ashenfelder led the Creekside Knights to a 6-5 record and the No. 65 school ranking in Florida.
According to 247Sports, the Saint Augustine native, Florida, is ranked the No. 117 prospect in Florida and the No. 62 ranked quarterback among his 2025 recruiting class.

Film Review
This Rutgers 2025 commit is a pro-style quarterback with a strong arm, making every throw on the field. Ashenfelder is athletic with the ability to escape pressure and extend plays with his legs.
He looks comfortable in the pocket and can make accurate throws on the run. His style of play is similar to current Rutgers starter Gavin Wimsatt. Ashenfelder is an excellent fit for offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca’s offense, playing in a similar scheme at Creekside High School.

Reading defenses will be an area to focus on for the new Scarlet Knight, as using his speed to escape pressure might not work every play. He can be dangerous if he understands his pre-snap reads. Ashenfelder is an excellent athlete and can blossom into a Power Five quarterback as he continues to develop.
