Fantasy football: Where to draft Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry

Analyzing Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry’s 2022 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry had consecutive stellar seasons in 2019 and 2020. That unfortunately was halted during his 2021 season when he suffered a foot injury that saw him miss the last 9 games of the season.

Below, we look at Derrick Henry’s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Henry was doing well up until his injury. He had 10 touchdowns and 937 yards. He was well on his way to outperforming himself from his previous seasons. If he can stay healthy, that same player could help keep the Titans a top AFC contender in 2022.

Derrick Henry’s ADP: 8.42

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com; last updated at time of this publishing – ADPs continually change as more drafts occur)

Henry has an ADP of 8.42 in redraft leagues, which puts him in the 1st rounds in most drafts. He outranks all of his Tennessee teammates in ADP.

Among wide receivers, Henry’s ADP puts him at 4th at the position, behind the likes of Christian McCaffrey (Carolina Panthers), Austin Ekeler (Los Angeles Chargers), and slightly ahead of Najee Harris (Pittsburgh Steelers), and Dalvin Cook (Minnesota Vikings).

Where should you draft Henry?

Henry’s fantasy value should take a hit this season. He’s still a top-2 running back in the NFL, but injuries should be a serious concern.

He missed 9 games, playing in only 8, and was on his way to setting a career-high in touchdowns and rushing attempts before the injury. Losing WR A.J. Brown (now with the Philadelphia Eagles) and WR Julio Jones (off to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) means the Titans will need him now more than ever, and he may again see similar usage.

Henry is being accurately priced here, and he should be taken in the middle-to-late 1st round, but it really depends on an owner’s risk tolerance. He should have a higher ceiling than a player like Ekeler, but Henry could suffer another lower-body injury and miss similar time.

This season is tough to gauge for the star back as he’s arguably the best fantasy player at full strength, but it’s truly anyone’s guess if he can stay at that level all season with that usage at age 28.

I would personally let Henry fall past the top 5 and feel good taking him anywhere after the 5th pick.
