New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr struggled in his 1st season with the Saints after 9 seasons with the Las Vegas Raider. The 4-time Pro Bowl QB, who was taken in the 2nd round of the 2014 NFL Draft, started all 17 games in 2023 and the Saints finished at 9-8. Carr has a 72-87 career record. Below, we look at Derek Carr’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.
Entering 2024, Carr is expected to have a much better season having spent a full offseason in New Orleans. Ideally, Carr could be a top-15 fantasy QB this season. The veteran signal-caller is intriguing in terms of fantasy value.

Carr has an ADP of 138.32 in redraft leagues, which puts him in the range of the 11th to 13th round, depending on the size of the league. His ADP is lower than his teammate WR Rashid Shaheed’s (136.78), though.
Among quarterbacks, Carr’s ADP puts him 29th at the position, behind Deshaun Watson (Cleveland Browns, 136.48), Sam Darnold (Minnesota Vikings, 136.01) and Geno Smith (Seattle Seahawks, 135.32), and slightly ahead of Will Levis (Tennessee Titans, 140.30), Daniel Jones (New York Giants, 140.74) and Bryce Young (Carolina Panthers, 146.22).

Where should you draft Carr?
Carr’s fantasy value should get a boost this year from a healthy offensive line, a new offensive coordinator and a full-strength star RB in Alvin Kamara.
Carr is a veteran and has played in the NFL for a decade. It is easy to see what fans will get from him, having thrown for 23-27 TDs in 4 straight seasons. Now, the yardage is where his fantasy value will rest. He threw for 4,804 yards in 2021 and has thrown for 4,000-plus yards in 4 straight seasons prior to his Pro Bowl campaign in 2022.
With numerous weapons on the team’s receiving corps, Carr will have options both out wide and out of the backfield. With a career 64.9% completion rate and a 68.4% completion rate in 2 of his last 3 seasons, Carr has a high floor and should be a top-20 QB, but he also has a relatively low ceiling, having finished as a top-13 to top-16 fantasy QB 5 straight seasons.
Draft Carr in the 5th or 6th round of Superflex or 2-QB leagues as he is a capable option. Take him as a high-end backup QB in standard leagues, but wait until that 12th round or so. He’s a capable and proven QB and should be taken at some point in most drafts.
