Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa has been impressive throughout his 3 NFL seasons. Selected 5th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, he is coming off his best season in the league. The main concern is health, as Tagovailoa has yet to play in more than 13 games in a season.

Below, we look at Tua Tagovailoa‘s 2023 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

He is expected to take another big step in his development this season and ideally will be a star, becoming a top-10 or top-5 QB in the league. The left-handed signal-caller is intriguing in terms of fantasy value.

Tagovailoa has an ADP of 73.58 in redraft leagues, which puts him in the range of the 6th to 8th round, depending on the size of the league. His ADP is lower than that of teammates at WR Tyreek Hill (9.94) and Jaylen Waddle (23.79).

Tagovailoa’s ADP puts him 12th at the QB position, behind Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts (66.83) and Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys (67.71), and slightly ahead of Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings (76.44).

Where should you draft Tagovailoa?

Tagovailoa’s fantasy value should get a boost from another preseason and training camp with Hill and Waddle, but unfortunately, there’s high risk in having the Dolphins leader as your main quarterback.

The Dolphins didn’t add much offensive firepower this offseason, but Tagovailoa will still have a higher upside than that of Prescott or Richardson due to the Dolphins’ efficient and high-octane offense. But the injury history, especially in the middle of the game, is too high. Tagovailoa struggled with concussions last season, and that could linger into this season.

Until his first injury last season in Week 4, Tagovailoa was the 5th-highest-scoring fantasy QB. The ceiling is there, but the injury history is too much to overlook here. However, that is priced into his ADP, so getting Tagovailoa and then another quality starter could be a smart plan of attack.

Draft Tagovailoa early in 2-QB leagues, but in 1-QB leagues, feel free to let him fall into the 8th round. When healthy, he has top-5 potential, but he has yet to prove that. If you enjoy the thrill and want a high-upside QB, take Tagovailoa in the mid-to-late 6th round.
